De BMW N20B20, B48 en B38 benzinemotoren kennen een probleem met de distributieketting! Motoren van dit type staan er namelijk om bekend, dat er al na ca. 50.000 km problemen ontstaan met de distributieketting.

Hoe weet je of de distributieketting kapot is?

- U hoort een tikkend of ratelend geluid vanonder de motorkap. Wanneer de ketting slijt, gaat de spanning eraf.
- De motor pruttelt en levert minder vermogen.
- Er zitten stukjes metaal in de motorolie.
- Het motorstoringslampje brandt.
Heeft BMW een distributieketting?
In de motor van uw BMW zit een distributieketting die de nokkenas(sen) en de krukas met elkaar verbindt. De belangrijkste functie van de ketting is het bedienen van de in- en uitlaatkleppen tijdens de slagcyclus van de zuigers. De zuigers in werking gesteld door verbranding in de motor.
Hoe lang gaat distributieketting mee BMW?
Een ratelende distributieketting kan zich al na 4-5 jaar (na productiedatum) voordoen en is dan vooral hoorbaar bij koude start. Een van de oorzaken waarom de ketting zo snel oprekt is het aanhouden van lange (>20000 km) onderhoudsintervallen i.c.m. toenemende kilometerstand.

Logic dictates that a 1X and XL or 2X and XXL would be the same size but their NOT. 1X is larger then XL. This is because L, XL, XXL are all in misses/womens sizing.
