Wat wordt er met Babylon bedoeld?
Babylon of Babel (Arabisch: بابل, Bābil) is een stad uit de oudheid, die zich in het huidige Irak bevindt, 80 km ten zuiden van Bagdad. De naam Babylon is een Griekse verbastering van het Akkadische Bāb-Ilim, hetgeen betekent “de Poort van God”.
Wat is er gebeurd met de hangende tuinen van Babylon?
Bijzonder was hun vermelding dat de irrigatie via onderaardse waterkanalen gebeurde. De tuinen werden in de oudheid als een van de zeven klassieke wereldwonderen aangeduid. Buiten deze beschrijvingen zijn er weinig concrete bewijzen voor het daadwerkelijke bestaan van de tuinen bewaard gebleven.

De hangende tuinen van Babylon bestond uit een serie terrassen, omringd door muren met torens. De muren waren volgeplant met bijzondere bomen, planten en bloemen. Het moet een bijzonder gezicht zijn geweest in een omgeving door voornamelijk door zand werd bepaald.
