Wat is een CHOP kuur?
CHOP (of R-CHOP) is een combinatiechemotherapie die wordt gebruikt bij de behandeling van verschillende non-hodgkinlymfomen (en de ziekte van Hodgkin bij enkele patiënten op hogere leeftijd). De naam is een afkorting van de geneesmiddelen (cytostatica) die onderdeel zijn van het therapieschema.
Welk ziekenhuis is gespecialiseerd in Hodgkin?
Lymfomen (Non-Hodgkinlymfoom) en het UMC Utrecht De ziekte Non-Hodgkin Lymfoom (NHL) is zeldzaam. Daardoor zijn er maar een paar ziekenhuizen die specialistische kennis en ervaring over NHL in huis hebben, en die wetenschappelijk onderzoek doen naar deze ziekte.
Waar staat R Chop voor?
De ‘R’ in R-CHOP staat voor rituximab. De lettercombinatie ‘CHOP’ staat voor de medicijnen: cyclofosfamide, (hydroxy)doxorubicine, vincristine (oncovin) en prednison. Al deze middelen zijn cytostatica, behalve prednison. Cytostatica zijn medicijnen die kankercellen doden of hun celdeling remmen.
Wat is beter Hodgkin of Non-Hodgkin?
Hodgkin-lymfoom is meestal goed te behandelen met chemotherapie eventueel in combinatie met bestraling. De behandeling van Non-Hodgkin lymfoom bestaat vaak uit een combinatie van chemotherapie en immuuntherapie. Als het lymfoom weer terugkomt, is intensieve chemotherapie gevolgd door stamceltransplantatie mogelijk.
