Wat doen leydig cellen?
Leydigcellen zijn cellen die onder andere in de testes (zaadballen) in het losmazig bindweefsel tussen de verschillende lobben (lobuli) te vinden zijn. Daar produceren zij onder invloed van de gonadotrope hormonen follikelstimulerend hormoon (FSH) en luteïniserend hormoon (LH) het mannelijke hormoon testosteron.
Wat zijn sertoli cellen?
De Sertoli-cellen beschermen de spermatoïde cellen tijdens hun ontwikkeling. Ook scheiden ze een vloeistof af waarin rijpe spermatozoa worden afgevoerd, produceren ze ABP dat testosteron concentreert en nemen ze cytoplasmadelen (restlichaampjes) op die spermatiden afstoten.
