Hoe werken grades?
Vanaf dat kinderen een jaar of 12 a 13 zijn, gaan ze naar junior highschool tot een jaar of 15 en vervolgens naar senior highschool. Het Amerikaanse schoolsysteem kent daarbij leerjaren, ook wel grades genoemd. Een grade is hetzelfde als een klas in Nederland.
Heb je vwo in Amerika?
In Amerika volgen alle studenten namelijk 12 jaar les, wat hier gelijk staat aan een VWO 6. Wanneer jij jouw VWO 6-diploma behaald hebt (ook wanneer je hier minder dan 12 jaar over gedaan hebt) vindt de Amerikaanse overheid dat jij het maximale behaald hebt en dus niet meer thuis hoort op een High School.
Do colleges care if you take Honors or AP classes?
The good news is that most colleges give extra points to individuals who participated in either honors or AP courses. As stated above, colleges know that qualifying for honors means that your GPA is at an exceptional level.
Are Honors classes harder in high school?
When Universities and high schools are in the same state, honors courses are looked at with higher regard by admissions. Taking honors courses means a faster pace in class, more work, and tests that are more challenging. Getting straight A’s in high school is amazing work.
