Hoe lang duurt het maken van een brace?
Behandeling
| Vrijdag | Voordat je naar school gaat de brace ½ tot 1 uur dragen. Na schooltijd de brace dragen als op donderdag. |
| Zaterdag | De brace 4 x 2 uur dragen of als dat handiger is 3 x 3 uur |
| Zondag | Brace 3 x 3 uur dragen met steeds een pauze van minstens 20 minuten. |
Wat is een brace voor scoliose?
Een brace is een kunststof korset dat precies voor jou op maat gemaakt wordt. De brace steunt op je bekken en drukt tegen de bocht(en) in je wervelkolom, waardoor de scoliose wordt gecorrigeerd.
Hoe kom je aan een scoliose?
Scoliose ontstaat vaker tijdens de groei, rond het 10e levensjaar. Dit kan ook te maken hebben met een genetische kwetsbaarheid. Een andere oorzaak is een spier- of zenuwaandoening. Wanneer bepaalde spieren namelijk te hard of niet hard genoeg aan de wervelkolom trekken, gaat deze scheef staan.
Hoe kun je scoliose voorkomen?
Een scoliose kan niet worden voorkomen. Men kan wel proberen om de toestand te stabiliseren en eventueel de afwijking tijdens de groei te corrigeren. Dit kan zowel therapeutisch of door een operatie. In 9 van de 10 gevallen is een scoliose vrij mild van aard en is een ingrijpende behandeling niet nodig.
Kan scoliose verdwijnen?
Met een behandeling probeer je te voorkomen dat de bocht in je wervelkolom groter wordt. Wanneer dit toch gebeurt, noemen we dit ‘progressie’ van de bocht. Progressie betekent dat de kromming toeneemt. Het is helaas niet mogelijk om de scoliose te laten verdwijnen.

What is the history of SpineCor?
SpineCor was initially developed more than 20 years ago by a team lead by two orthopedic surgeons at St. Justine’s Hospital in Montreal Canada after they were given a 12 million dollar grant to research to find a better way to treat scoliosis by the government of Quebec.
