Hoe goed beschermt de prikpil?
De prikpil beschermt je heel goed tegen zwangerschap. De kans is heel klein dat je toch zwanger wordt. Van de 1000 vrouwen die de prikpil krijgen, worden minder dan 5 per jaar toch zwanger. Als je de prikpil vergeet te nemen, is er wel kans dat je zwanger wordt.
Kan je van de prikpil dik worden?
Een vaak voorkomende bijwerking van de prikpil is gewichtsverandering. Dat kan zowel gewichtstoename als gewichtsafname zijn. De meeste vrouwen vermageren niet maar verdikken. Gemiddeld worden vrouwen 3 kilogram dikker in de eerste 2 jaar dat ze de prikpil gebruiken.

Is Depo Provera safe for women with breast cancer?
Women who have or have had a history of breast cancer should not use hormonal contraceptives, including Depo-Provera CI, because breast cancer may be hormonally sensitive [see Contraindications (4)]. Women with a strong family history of breast cancer should be monitored with particular care.
